EPM

EPM

Mineral Process Engineering is the English-facing name for EPM, a mineral processing consulting practice focused on process simulation, flowsheet analysis and engineering studies using DPSIM.

EPM works with mining and mineral processing teams that need practical simulation support: building representative process models, comparing operating scenarios, evaluating plant behavior and turning simulation results into engineering decisions.

About Dirceu Nascimento

Dirceu Nascimento, mineral process simulation specialist and DPSIM developer
Dirceu Nascimento, mineral process simulation specialist.

Dirceu Nascimento is a mining engineer from UFMG, graduated in 2010, with more than 15 years of experience in mineral processing. He is the developer of DPSIM and works through EPM on process simulation, flowsheet analysis and engineering studies for mineral processing systems.

His work combines practical mineral process engineering with DPSIM modeling workflows for steady-state and dynamic studies, including material handling, equipment availability, maintenance events and control logic when project work requires DPSIM Full capabilities.

Through EPM, Dirceu supports consulting work around DPSIM modeling, static and dynamic simulation studies, reliability analysis, process control applications, training and engineering review of mineral processing systems.

Consulting with DPSIM

DPSIM is more than a software product in EPM projects. It is the engineering environment used to structure assumptions, represent circuit behavior, test alternatives and communicate results with a clear technical basis.

Static Simulation Studies

Flowsheet modeling, mass balance review, unit operation configuration, scenario comparison and reporting for steady operating cases.

Dynamic and Control Studies

Advanced DPSIM Full project work for time-based behavior, operating disturbances, control logic and plant response studies.

Reliability and Production Risk

Simulation support for availability, failures, repairs, buffers, standby equipment and production impact analysis.

What EPM Can Support

  • Development and review of mineral processing flowsheet models.
  • Steady-state simulation studies for design review, debottlenecking and process comparison.
  • Calibration and interpretation of unit operation model parameters.
  • Scenario studies for feed changes, equipment settings, capacity limits and product quality.
  • Advanced DPSIM Full studies involving dynamic simulation, process control and reliability analysis.
  • DPSIM training, model review and support for engineering teams adopting simulation workflows.

From Software to Engineering Decisions

A process simulation is valuable when it helps a team make better decisions. EPM combines mineral processing knowledge with DPSIM modeling workflows to help clients understand circuit behavior, identify risks and evaluate practical alternatives before changes are made in the plant.

The public DPSIM Static Module is a starting point for steady-state flowsheet simulation and model review. For project-specific work that requires broader DPSIM capabilities, EPM can support studies using DPSIM Full.
