Player learning materials
The tutorial develops understanding through a connected sequence of lessons. The manual documents individual functions for reference.
Tutorial: understanding a study
The lessons build on one another. Concepts are introduced before the interface exercise, and the exercise is followed by an interpretation of what was observed.
Understanding a Player recording
A recording is evidence from one execution of a study. The first task is to understand what it contains and which questions that evidence can answer.
Lesson 2Recorded time and analysis intervals
The state currently shown, the data interval being analyzed and the visible timeline window are related, but they are not the same selection.
Lesson 3From recorded samples to an analysis
A trend, a histogram and a CSV describe the same recorded series in different ways. A small interval makes their relationship visible and checkable.
Lesson 4Keeping a review with the recording
The numerical result and its presentation have different roles. Saving a review preserves the interpretation aids without recalculating the process.
Keep the manual nearby
Use the reference manual when you need a command, file-format distinction or explanation of a limit. It complements the exercises rather than repeating their steps.

Before you start
The screenshots and numerical tables follow one 120-second recording with a saved state every 10 seconds. They provide a worked example rather than a promised result for every run. If your file has another duration or cadence, choose an interval within that file and apply the same reasoning to its samples. Random feed variation means a fresh run need not reproduce the example values.
Have two separate files available: the portable Player executable and a completed .dpsplay recording. The executable is the program; the recording contains the study results. Run Player without installation, then use Open local to choose the recording. Developer is not required for this review. Keep the received recording unchanged and use Save local as for a working copy.
See Downloads for current application availability. Developer authoring guides cover the other side of the workflow.
